Table tennis X Preston Tsui of Hong Yip

26.09.2019

"I'm not a fan of monotony; that's why I fell in love with the ever-changing game of table tennis!" said Preston Tsui, who works as a Customer Services Assistant at Harbour North and is a table tennis coach after work.

Satisfaction from changeability

Preston started playing table tennis in Primary 6. During his further studies in Australia, he often participated in table tennis matches, and even became runner-up in the South Australia region. Since returning to Hong Kong, he has continued to take part in matches and represented Tuen Mun District in The Hong Kong Games. He has won countless prizes in both Hong Kong and Australia. "Every time you hit the ball, you must immediately predict its return spin and angle," he said. "I love how playing table tennis keeps my mind busy!"

Self-challenge

Preston thinks the biggest similarity between work and table tennis is the importance of adaptability – changing according to the situation, based on counterparty reaction to resolve crises and maximize performance. Although table tennis is an individual sport, he enjoys the team spirit at work. "We all have our strengths and weaknesses," he said. "By complementing each other, we provide premium and stable service to our customers."

Table tennis connects colleagues in Hong Yip

Preston socializes with colleagues in Hong Yip who also enjoy playing table tennis by playing together every week. "We not only play table tennis together; we also chat, so we've grown to learn more about one another and the company, which is not something we expected," he said. Also a table tennis coach, Preston is very willing to share experience and tips with his colleagues. Seeing their continuous improvement in their technique gives him enormous satisfaction.

Are you ready to retire?

12.09.2019

The company recently invited an investment expert to host a 'smart retirement' financial planning seminar and share some wealth management tips. If you missed the seminar, here are the six steps the speaker suggested to plan and prepare for your retirement:

Evaluate your financial status – What assets do you have? How much debt do you have? When do you plan to retire? How much time is left for you to accumulate wealth?  Set your budget – What type of retirement life do you desire – basic, moderate or extravagant? Decide on your lifestyle after retirement to estimate how much money you will need to retire. Assess your retirement needs – Assess your needs, including food and other daily needs, medical fees, and even your life expectancy (A gentle reminder: Hong Kong people live the longest in the world). Understand your risks – Financial risks include unexpected emergencies and inflation. Create and execute your plan – Measures include insurance, an annuity and various investment tools to grow your money. Review your plan regularly – Review your plan from time to time to determine if it still fits your needs and goals at different stages of life.
